NOTES: Near Austin and San Antonio, the Guadalupe River is a fly fishing paradise. The river is draped with spanish moss hanging from cypress trees. There are long stretches through gorges with 1,000 foot walls.
There are two sections of the Guadalupe River: the Upper and the Lower. The lower section is a tail-water stretch below the Canyon Lake dam. In this section, you can expect to find rainbow trout and brown trout between six to eighteen inches. On the upper section above Canyon Lake, you can expect to find smallmouth bass, Guadalupe largemouth bass, white bass and perch.
