REGION: Rio Grande National Forest TITLE: Conejos River
NOTES: Southwest of Alamosa and east of Pagosa Springs, the Conejos River is a 60 mile long river that offers moderate fly fishing opportunties. This a waders paradise. Expect to find rainbow trout, brown trout, and cutthroat trout.
The big caddis and stonefly hatches are from June through September.
A popular place to start exploring the Conejos River is in the tailwater fishery of Platoro Reservoir. To reach the access from Alamosa, head south on US285 to Antonito. Turn west on SR17 for 35 miles.. Turn right on FS250 to the reservoir.
