Big Spring Creek Fly Fishing (Pennsylvania) Map
COUNTRY: US   STATE: Pennsylvania   (Printer Version)
TITLE: Big Spring Creek
NOTES: Near Newville, the Big Spring Creek is mostly known for its wild brook trout, but is becoming popular for it s brown trout and rainbow trout populations. Overall, the Big Spring Creek has been experiencing declining fish populations due to discharges.

When fly fishing wild brook trout on the Big Spring Creek, try the section above Nealy Road bridge close to the headwaters. The wild brook trout found on the Big Spring Creek are unusually large for the species. Good access is provided by SR3007.

If you want to go fly fishing on the Big Spring Creek for rainbow trout or brown trout, there is a stocked trout section between the T353 bridge and Newville.

The lower section of the Big Spring Creek below Newville down to the confluence with the Conodiguinet Creek confluence is rarely fished.

Additional printed reading material on Big Spring Creek fly fishing can be found in Flyfishers Guide To Pennsylvania by from Dave Wolfe.
