Northwest of Marlington and west of Slatyfork, the Cranberry River is a shallow mountain stream that has made a huge comeback over the past 20 years. It is one of the top fisheries in the state with plenty of stocked brown trout and rainbow trout.
The best section for fly fishing on the Cranberry River is from Woodbine Recreation Area downstream 1.2 miles to Camp Spinter (catch-and-release). This section is access via FS76. Another interesting section is from the junction of the North Fork and South Fork that runs downstream for 4.3 miles to the bridge at Dogway Fork. Access is provided off FS76 at Cranberry Glades parking area.
Overall, Cranberry River is the 1st most popular fly fishing river of all 8 fly fishing spots in West Virginia.
