Southwest of Springfield and northwest of Crane, the Crane Creek offers fly fishing for wild McCloud Strain rainbow trout in a small-stream, spring-fed creek environment. The best section is the two mile stretch in the Wire Road Conservation Area just northwest of Crane. This section is line be sycamores on both banks to keep the water cool.

Overall, Crane Creek is the 2nd most popular fly fishing river of all 3 fly fishing spots in Missouri.
