Southeast of Duluth near Brule, the Bois Brule River is well-known for fly fishing its brook trout and brown trout. The Bois Brule River starts at Upper St. Croix Lake and flows 45 miles north to Lake Superior confluence. On the upper stretches, the fly fishing on the Bois Brule is excellent from a canoe.
