East of Sacremento near Markleeville, the 40 mile East Fork Carson River is divided into three wadeable sections; upper, middle and lower.

The middle section from Silver Creek to Wolf Creek is the most easily accessed stretch. Try starting from the Centerville Bridge off SR4.

The remote East Fork Carson River is well know for its wild trout zone in the lower section between Hangmans Bridge and the Nevada State line.

The section below Carson Falls is the most remote and sees the least flyfishing pressure. You can expect to find native rainbow and brown trout.

Note: the water above Carson Falls is closed to fishing.

Overall, East Fork Carson River is the 4th most popular fly fishing river of all 17 fly fishing spots in California.
