In northeastern New York, the Boquet River is well-known for its Atlantic Salmon. The best section is the 12 mile stretch from below Wadhams Falls down to Lake Champlain. You can expect to find Atlantic Salmon up to 10 pounds, with the average of about 4 pounds. There are some steelhead and some brown trout that are also in this stretch of river.
The upper 30 miles above the Wadham Falls is a fast moving river, wide and deep.
Overall, Boquet River is the 18th most popular fly fishing river of all 32 fly fishing spots in New York. Several of the better fly fishing rivers are nearby Boquet River including Batten Kill River, West Canada Creek, Upper Hudson River, West Branch Ausable River and Saranac River.
