Northwest of Pittsburgh near Portersville, the McConnells Mill State Park has the popular Slippery Rock Creek Gorge which is know for trout fly fishing. The creek is stocked several times a year.
The McConnells Mill State Park is located about 40 miles northwest of Pittsburgh, via US79, near the intersection of SR19 and US422.
Overall, Slippery Rock Creek is the 2nd most popular fly fishing river of all 49 fly fishing spots in Pennsylvania.
