South Fork Holston River Fly Fishing

The 2nd most popular fly fishing river in Tennessee.

Northeast of Johnson City near Emmett in eastern Tennessee, the South Fork Holston River is known for its fly fishing opportunties. The South Fork of the Holston River starts up at South Fork Holston Reservoir east of Kingsport and flows 150 miles downstream to the Tenessee River confluence near Knoxville.

The best section for fly fishing on the South Fork Holston River is from the South Holston Dam downstream to Hickory Tree Bridge. This is an excellent river for wading when the TVA is not flowing.

Overall, South Fork Holston River is the 2nd most popular fly fishing river of all 10 fly fishing spots in Tennessee.
