Kennebec River Fly Fishing

The MOST popular fly fishing river in Maine.

Northwest of Bangor and northeast of The Forks, the Kennebec River is known for its fly fishing opportunties. You can expect to find plentiful stripped bass. The East Outlet section flows 2.5 miles from Moosehead Lake down to Indian Pond. It is fly fishing only with a 1 fish limit. Depending upon snow runoff and dam release, this section can be quite wadeable. The fly fishing on the Kennebec River is known for its brook trout and landlocked salmon.

Overall, Kennebec River is the 1st most popular fly fishing river of all 14 fly fishing spots in Maine.
