Black River Fly Fishing

The 22nd most popular fly fishing river in New York.

Northeast of Syracuse and north of Boonville, the 113 mile Black River has various fly fishing opportunties to check out.

The two more popular sections to explore for trout are Frestport to Denley Dam and Denley Dam to Lyons Falls. The 13.1 mile section from Forestport downstream to Denley Dam is stocked with trout annually, and is mainly accessed off Norton Road. The 6.2 mile section from Denley Dam downstream to Lyons Falls has many access points and a nice bank access just above Lyons Falls. This latter section is pretty much the end of the cold water that supports trout.

Overall, Black River is the 22nd most popular fly fishing river of all 32 fly fishing spots in New York.
