North of Castlegar near Slocan Park, the Slocan River is popular with fly fishermen for rainbow trout. The Slocan River, also known for its scenic wilderness, has some prolific hatches.
One of the best sections for fly fishing on the Slocan River is known as Slocan Pool near the confluence with the Kootenay River.
Note: The Slocan River is closed from mid-July through August.
Overall, Slocan River is the 10th most popular fly fishing river of all 16 fly fishing spots in British Columbia.
