West of St. Johns, the Salmonier River is popular with fly fishermen for its huge runs of atlantic salmon, brook trout and sea-run brown trout.

The best access points for fly fishing on the Salmonier River is at Murphys Falls, Pinsents Falls and the Flats. The best time of year is from the end of June to mid-July.
