New River Fly Fishing

The 19th most popular fly fishing river in North Carolina.

Northwest of Winston-Salem near Piney Creek, the New River is popular for fly fishing. The New River is formed by the confluence of the South Fork and the North of the New River. Most fly fishermen are out on the New river for the trout and the smallmouth bass.

There are some good fly fishing access points on the New River in the New River State Park, Sparta, and West Jefferson.

Overall, New River is the 19th most popular fly fishing river of all 19 fly fishing spots in North Carolina.
