Salt Creek Fly Fishing

The 7th most popular fly fishing river in Indiana.

Northwest of Valparasio in Porter County, the Salt Creek is popular for trout fly fishing.

For fly fishing on the Salt Creek, there are numerous public access points. First, the Chuatak access is on CR600N about a half mile west of SR149. Second, the Imagination Glenn County Park is located on Portage Road about 0.25 miles east of Samuelson Road. Third, the Haven Hollow Park access is off SR149 at CR700 about 7 miles south of US20.

Note: All trout streams in Indiana are catch-and-release from January 1st to April 14th. Stocked trout streams are closed the last two weeks of April. Open season limits are a total of five trout per day with a daily max of one brown trout.

Overall, Salt Creek is the 7th most popular fly fishing river of all 15 fly fishing spots in Indiana.
