In the Julian Alps, the Soca River is popular for fly fishing the Adriatic Grayling, rainbow trout and the marble trout. The Soca River has headwaters in the Trenta Valley of the Julian Alps and heads downstream to the southeast to the town of Zaga. The freestone river habitat has excellent hatches of midges, salmon flies and blue-wing olives.

Most fly fishermen will fly into Ljubljana and then head to the Trenta Valley. A daily beat fly fishing lease is required.

Overall, Soca River is the 1st most popular fly fishing river of all 2 fly fishing spots in Slovenia.
